How to add chords to your lyrics

Updated: October 17, 2026

The My Lyrics editor lets you easily add chords directly on your song lyrics. You read chords and lyrics in one place, even without an internet connection.

Add a chord

  1. Open the song in the lyrics editor.
  2. Select the part of the lyrics where the chord changes, for example the syllable or the word.
  3. Tap Add note to selection.
  4. Type the chord or note (for example Am or C) and save.

The app confirms with a message when the note is added. If there was already a note on that same fragment, it is replaced.

Edit and remove

In the song’s Added Chords/Notes list you can change or remove any chord at any time. You can also show or hide the chords with the Show notes option.

Good practices

  • Select the exact fragment where the chord changes, not the whole line.
  • Use the same notation across your library (for example Am, F, C, G) to read faster.
  • If you copy lyrics from the internet, review them before adding the chords.
  • If something doesn’t look aligned, adjust the font size and check again.

Share

When you’re done, share the lyrics with your band via WhatsApp, email and more, or export them to print or save as a PDF from Tools.
