Privacy policy

This privacy policy sets out the terms under which Rolando Selvera (the “developer”) uses and protects information from people who use the My Lyrics app (and its My Lyrics PRO version) and this website. One of our main priorities is the privacy of our users.

When you are asked for information by which you can be identified, we make sure to use it only in accordance with the terms of this document. This policy may change or be updated over time, so we recommend reviewing it from time to time.

Data controller

Summary

  • Your lyrics, chords and setlists are stored on your device. We do not upload them to our servers.

Information that is collected

According to the information declared on Google Play, the app may collect personal information (for example your email address, if you provide it for cloud backup) and device or other identifiers, such as the advertising ID. Some of this data may be shared with third parties, for example to show ads. Data is encrypted in transit.

The app may also obtain technical and usage information: device model, Android version, app version, language, crash reports and basic data about how features are used.

How we use information

We use information to provide and improve the service, keep the app secure and stable, show ads in the free version and manage your purchases. To do so we rely on third-party services, such as Google, for advertising, usage statistics and crash reports. Each one is governed by its own privacy policy, which we recommend you read. We regularly update our apps to prevent unauthorized access.

Features that use the internet

Features such as online lyrics search, AI chat and translation need an internet connection. To work, the text you type or select in them is sent to the corresponding service for processing. Do not enter personal or confidential information in those features.

Notifications

The app requests the notifications permission only to show a local notice while the local web editor is active. We do not send push notifications with advertising or offers.

Camera and photos

The camera permission is used only when you choose Scan Lyrics. The image is processed on your device to extract the text and is not sent to our servers.

Cloud backup

Cloud backup is optional. When you use it, the app asks for an email address and a 4-digit number, and uploads a copy of your lyrics database (songs, chords and setlists) to cloud storage, in a folder identified by your email and your number. Only the most recent backup is kept.

Those two items are what let you recover your backup: don’t lose them. If you want us to delete your backup, write to us with the email you used and we will do our best to delete it promptly. Do not include in your lyrics any information you don’t want stored in the cloud.

Local web editor

When you start the local web editor, the app lets you edit your lyrics from your computer’s browser on the same Wi-Fi network. The information travels inside your local network, not to our servers. While it is active, other devices on your network that know the address could open it, so use it only on trusted networks and stop it when you finish.

Android automatic backup

Depending on your device settings, Android may include the lyrics database in your Google account backups or in the transfer to a new phone. That is managed by Google, not by the developer.

The free version contains ads. Google and other advertising services may use technologies such as device identifiers, cookies (including Google DoubleClick DART cookies) or web beacons to measure and personalize ads. The developer has no access to or control over these technologies.

  • You can read how Google uses data at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
  • In regions where it is required, the app shows a consent form. From the lyrics list, the privacy options menu lets you review your choice.
  • On Android you can also reset or delete your advertising ID and turn off ad personalization in the system settings.

The app may contain links to other sites that may be of interest to you. Once you leave the app, the developer no longer has control over the site you are redirected to and is not responsible for its terms, its privacy or the protection of your data. Those sites are subject to their own privacy policies, which we recommend you read.

PRO subscription and purchases

The monthly subscription and the purchase of My Lyrics PRO are made and managed through Google Play. Payment data is processed by Google; the developer does not receive your card details. The subscription is canceled from Google Play, under Payments & subscriptions.

How long we keep information

We keep your personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy. We retain and use it to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our policies. The lyrics on your device remain there until you delete them or uninstall the app.

Control over your personal information

You can restrict the collection or use of the personal information provided to the app at any time. The developer will not sell, assign or distribute the personal information collected without your consent, unless required by a judge with a court order.

Your rights

If you live in Mexico, you have the right to access, rectify, cancel or object to the processing of your personal data (ARCO rights).

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights and we are the data controller of your information. Our legal basis for collecting and using the personal information described in this policy depends on the data and the context in which we collect it:

  • we need to perform a contract with you;
  • you have given us permission to do so;
  • the processing is in the developer’s legitimate interests;
  • we need to comply with the law.

In certain circumstances you have the right to:

  • access, update or delete the information we hold about you;
  • have your data rectified;
  • object to its processing;
  • ask for its processing to be restricted;
  • data portability;
  • withdraw your consent.

Children

Part of our priority is protecting children while they use the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in and monitor their online activity. My Lyrics does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If you think a child provided us with personal information, write to us and we will do our best to remove it promptly.

This website

This site uses no cookies, has no analytics or third-party trackers, and loads no resources from other domains. It only stores your light or dark theme preference locally in your browser. Like all hosting services, the hosting provider may record standard technical data about visits in log files (IP address, browser type, internet service provider, date and time stamp, referring and exit pages). This data is not linked to personally identifiable information and is used to analyze trends and administer the site.

Scope of this policy

This policy applies to the app and to this website. It does not apply to information collected offline or through other channels, or to advertisers and third-party sites, whose policies you should consult separately. You can disable cookies through your browser options.

Changes to this policy

The developer reserves the right to change the terms of this policy at any time. When he does, he will update the “Last updated” date on this page.
